Frequently Asked Questions

Who are your services designed for?

My services are designed primarily for neurodivergent youth and adults who are exploring career options, navigating workplace challenges, requesting accommodations, or seeking a more sustainable and meaningful work experience. I also work with leaders, teams, and organizations that want to strengthen neurodiversity-affirming workplace practices.

Do I need a formal diagnosis to access your services?

No. A formal diagnosis is not required to participate in employment consultation or vocational assessment.

What can we discuss during an individual consultation?

Consultations may focus on career exploration, workplace stress, accommodation needs, communication expectations, disclosure decisions, workplace relationships, ableism or discrimination, education and training options, and practical next steps toward meaningful employment.

Can you help me request workplace accommodations?

Yes. I can help you identify possible accommodation needs, clarify how those needs affect your work, prepare for conversations with an employer, and consider how to communicate your request. I do not provide legal advice or formally determine whether an employer has met its legal obligations.

What is included in a vocational assessment?

A vocational assessment typically includes an intake interview and several tools examining work-related interests, values, strengths, support needs, and possible career directions. When relevant, the assessment may also consider workplace stress or fit. The full process takes approximately three hours.

Will I receive a written report?

Yes. After the vocational assessment, you will receive a brief summary report outlining suggested career fields, areas for further exploration, practical recommendations, and possible next steps related to education, training, or employment.

Is there a follow-up appointment after the assessment?

Yes. A one-hour feedback session is generally scheduled approximately two weeks after the assessment. During this appointment, we review the findings, discuss the recommendations, and identify realistic next steps.

Is a vocational assessment the same as a psychological or diagnostic assessment?

No. A vocational assessment focuses on employment interests, values, strengths, workplace needs, and potential career directions. It does not diagnose autism, ADHD, learning disabilities, mental-health conditions, or other disabilities.

Can you tell me exactly which career I should choose?

The assessment is intended to support informed decision-making rather than prescribe one specific career. Recommendations are developed collaboratively and may identify several career fields or directions that appear consistent with your interests, values, strengths, circumstances, and support needs.

Do you provide résumé writing or job-placement services?

Consultations may include guidance related to job searching, career planning, résumés, interviews, and employment preparation. However, I do not operate as a recruitment agency and cannot guarantee employment or directly place clients in jobs.

Do you offer services to employers and organizations?

Yes. Workplace inclusion and leadership services are available for leaders, teams, and organizations. Consultation or training may address neurodivergent employee experiences, accommodation processes, ableism and workplace barriers, communication and supervision, accessible team cultures, leadership coaching, policy or practice review, and practical inclusion strategies.

Can organizational services be customized?

Yes. The format and content can be tailored to the organization’s goals, workforce, challenges, and level of existing knowledge. Services may include individual leadership consultation, team training, workplace-practice review, or a combination of approaches.

Are appointments virtual or in person?

Appointments are available virtually or in person in the Erin Mills area of Mississauga.

How much do services cost?

Individual employment or accommodation consultations are $200 for 50 minutes. Vocational assessments are $900, including the assessment process, summary report, and feedback appointment. Workplace inclusion and leadership consultation is $250 per hour.

Are the fees covered by insurance?

Services provided by a registered social worker may be eligible for reimbursement through many extended health-insurance plans. Coverage varies, so clients should confirm their plan’s requirements and annual limits directly with their insurer.

Can Passport Funding be used?

Eligible clients may be able to use Passport Funding for services related to employment, independence, or community participation. Approval depends on the individual’s funding agreement and current Passport guidelines, so clients should confirm eligibility with their Passport agency or funding administrator.

Do you offer a free consultation?

A free 15-minute introductory consultation is available for new inquiries. This provides an opportunity to briefly discuss what you are looking for, ask questions, and determine whether the service appears to be a good fit.

Are services confidential?

Personal information is handled in accordance with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Services Workers privacy, and record-keeping requirements. Relevant limits to confidentiality and informed-consent procedures will be reviewed before services begin.

How do I book an appointment?

You can make an inquiry by calling 416-312-8334 or emailing sarah.southey@redpathcentre.ca. Briefly describe the type of support you are seeking, and next steps can be discussed
